Story Time!

Dealing with dead bodies is never an easy thing. The gruesomeness, the grief from family members. It takes a strong person to be able to deal with all of it, and even then it can be hard. A few years after my mom started her job at Big Basin, a call was put in, saying a car had been abandoned nearby. She and her partner Bill drove out to go check it out, see what happened. Inside the car, a person was lying in the driver's seat, and blood was spattered all around the window and the seat. My mom and Bill had to investigate further, and discovered that this poor man had committed suicide. The sight was pretty gruesome, and as my mom as telling me this, I can see it's not one of her favorite memories. There was a note left on the passenger seat, a suicide note, but she cannot recall what it said. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the last time she had to deal with people taking their lives at the places she worked at. While it wasn't common, it happened more than it should have. As she got older, she got transferred to places where suicide did not happen at all, and she felt more at ease. But she does not let her guard down, and is prepared for what is to come. Both my mom and I would like to encourage you to call the number below if you or a loved one is having suicidal thoughts.
National Suicide Prevention Line (800) 273-TALK
