Natural Resource Protection
These rangers protect the natural things, such as forests, beaches, and the living animals that survive in these environments. These rangers make sure to keep the nature in their park safe.
Fire Management
These rangers manage fires that break out in forests. Fires can be helpful for forests sometimes, since pine cones open and release seeds after fires. But fires can get out of hand, and the firemen make sure to work on the fires and put them out.
Interpretation
Now this is definitely something my mom is familiar with! At La Purisima, she would give tours to the visitors and explained the history of the mission to them. Interpreters just explain things in a way the visitors understand and appreciate. From the forests, to the people that lived there, there is always something to talk about.
Search and Rescue
This is also a part of my mom's job. When hikers get hurt and/or lost, these rangers are called to help. These rangers are also there to enforce the laws, patrol trails, and looks out for the visitors. Rescue rangers are ready for anything. They also make sure that the visitors are having fun while being safe!
Historian
And last but not least, there's the historians. These are like a mix of interpreters and natural resource protection. These guys make sure to preserve things important to our history, like battlefields and historic houses. They know so much about the past, and are full of information!
Well now you guys know the 5 different types!
