Hiking Safety

  • Try to hike with a family member or friend. You'll enjoy the companionship, and you'll be a lot safer with a partner!
  • Take some water. You have to remember to stay hydrated!
  • Let someone know where you are. In case you're in trouble, getting lost or getting hurt, it's good to have someone back at home or at the camp know where you are.
  • DON'T WALK OFF THE TRAIL. You don't know what kind of plants and animals are hiding off the trail that could cause you harm.
This is basic knowledge that all hikers, seasoned professionals or new ones, should know and take to heart. Following this ensures your safety, and helps prepare for emergencies!
